How to Use a Notion Content Calendar to Plan 30 Days of Content

Stop Winging Your Content

If you're posting content without a plan, you're leaving growth on the table. A content calendar helps you batch-create, stay consistent, and never run out of ideas.

Here's how to plan 30 days of content in under 2 hours using Notion.

Step 1: Set Up Your Content Calendar Database

Create a new Notion database with these properties:

  • Title — the content title or working title
  • Platform — YouTube, Instagram, Blog, TikTok, etc.
  • Status — Idea / Writing / Filming / Editing / Scheduled / Published
  • Publish Date — date property
  • Content Type — Tutorial, Story, Review, List, etc.

Switch to the Calendar view to see your entire month at a glance.

Step 2: Brain Dump All Your Ideas

Set a timer for 20 minutes and write down every content idea you have. Don't filter — just dump everything into your database as new rows. You can sort and prioritize later.

Aim for at least 40–50 ideas so you always have a backlog to pull from.

Step 3: Assign Dates and Platforms

Look at your calendar and decide when you'll publish each piece. Consider:

  • How often can you realistically post on each platform?
  • Are there any holidays, events, or trends coming up you should plan around?
  • What's your content mix? (Educational, entertaining, promotional)

Step 4: Batch Your Creation

Group similar content together and create it in batches. Write all your blog posts in one session, film all your videos in another. Batching is 3x more efficient than switching between tasks.

Step 5: Use the Status Column to Track Progress

Move each piece of content through the status pipeline as you work on it. A quick glance at your calendar shows you exactly where everything stands.
